WISE Program Manager
Kirsten Brown (She/Her/Hers) is a School Social Worker and Certified Sexual Health Educator. As Manager of EyesOpenIowa's WISE Program, Kirsten has worked collaboratively with school districts across Iowa and Illinois to build and develop high quality sex education programs that are comprehensive, medically accurate, and affirming of all young people. She enjoys working with schools to ensure that all young people get the essential health information they need and deserve!

As a School Social Worker, Kirsten supports students by providing Social Emotional services and therapeutic interventions. She has extensive experience implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) programming, developing function-based behavioral interventions, and is well-versed in a variety of evidence-based Social Emotional Learning and violence prevention curricula. In addition to schools, Kirsten has worked with children, youth, and families in a number of diverse settings, including housing case management, emergency resource and crisis counseling, early childhood home-visiting, and after-school enrichment programming.

Kirsten earned her B.A. in American Studies and Family Studies from St. Olaf College and her MSW from the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. She is a licensed social worker in the state of Iowa, member of the National Association of Social Workers, and proud AmeriCorps alum. In her free time, Kirsten enjoys reading, singing, and exploring the outdoors!
