Teens Against Human Trafficking Program Specialist will introduce participants to human trafficking in Iowa, with a focus on the youth perspective. Participants will learn about the process of recruitment, grooming, and control, through Iowa and national examples. Participants will also learn what risk factors make students more vulnerable to trafficking. The presentation will include information regarding recruitment online and through social media, as well as the relationship between pornography and sex trafficking. Finally, the Program Specialist will describe efforts to prevent human trafficking and identify victims in our schools. Participants will leave with an understanding of warning signs to look for, how to respond if a student directly or indirectly identifies as a trafficking survivor, and what services are available.
