Public schools are called upon to educate greater numbers of children who have confronted adverse conditions and childhood trauma. Increasingly educators work with students whose behavior may escalate to the point of disrupting their learning, the learning of others and everyone's safety. Teachers and others interacting directly with students must be prepared to effectively prevent and de-escalate potentially dangerous situations. This workshop will provide administrators and program supervisors with practical information useful in guiding the development of a supportive culture for the students they serve. Additionally, information will be provided to assist Administrators in helping to prepare their teachers and staff in the employment of effective self-control plans to minimize further escalation and to effectively manage crisis situations.
