The continued momentum of the #MeToo movement highlights the need for increased efforts for consent and sexual violence prevention education. Additionally, emerging research on child development shows that children have a solid understanding of their gender identity by the time they reach kindergarten, though students who identify as trans, genderqueer, or gender non-conforming continue to experience elevated rates of discrimination and victimization while at school. Therefore, it's imperative for schools to provide students with the supports and skills they need to develop healthy relationships, and to create learning environments that are gender-inclusive and affirming for all youth - and this important work needs to (and can!) happen at the start of students' academic careers!
This interactive workshop focuses on the importance of K-5 health programming and provides participants with strategies, lesson activities, and resources to ensure all students thrive.
